ePrescribe: Cover My Meds integration for ePA
Griffith Jones
The scriptsure cloud erx integration with Cover My Meds for electronic prior authorization (ePA) would save me a ton of time. I am not sure how much automation there could be with this integration but the workflow for Authorizing a prescription is terrible.
I can see that the medication will need a prior auth in the prescribing window but I currently I need to wait for the pharmacy to begin it by sending me a fax with a covermymeds code on it unless I want to spend 10-15 min. per Prior Auth.
My current workflow involves: manually typing in the patient's name and address and all the insurance information as well as all the medication details. Then waiting a day for them to send me another form where I tell them about all the medications they have tried and failed so they will let me prescribe the branded medication that my patient needs.
It takes hours of my time each week to do all this.
I have used EMRs in the past where sending a ePA was as simple as pressing a button on the prescription and that would be a huge benefit for any provider that prescribes medications that are not yet generic.

Yes, yes. I 100% agree with Griffith. This integration would be an extreme time saver.
