Don't let notes lock without diagnosis

I use the "current diagnosis" question in my note template...and so there is no "required" option. I can certainly understand and appreciate the flexibility in wanting to make this optional for all who use this EHR but since a diagnosis can only be added through the note. Its easy to finish the note and lock it... only to then have to unlock it to add the diagnosis code. Also the ability to remove a diagnosis in the note but then have to remove it AGAIN on the tab after locking the note is.... so inefficient.

Please do NOT make the diagnosis mandatory. Please allow the option to mark it as "required" if people wish. For those not working with insurance, we do not need to assign codes and diagnoses to our visits, so that would be an inconvenience.

This exists already. Set the dx as a required field in the note template.

Please make this optional. I don’t bill insurance, and like to work on intakes over a few visits. I still need to lock my notes to pin certain items. Features like this is one of the main reason I moved away from my former EHR.

I see that this is planned and that's awesome. Can we have it so our "diagnoses" section in our note lists all dx assigned to that patient and we can check the ones applicable? RIght now it sometimes double-adds the dx. Thanks.

I just want to emphasize that this feature needs to be OPTIONAL - however you implement it. There are many of us

NO! I don't do "diagnosis" because I am acting as a health coach, but I still want to be able to lock my notes.

There are a couple different ways to add diagnosis.
Do you typically use the 'Current Diagnosis' question type or are you/staff entering via the "More > Add diagnosis"?

Tyson Edwards: I agree with the check box option to make the question for diagnosis “is required” because I want the diagnosis carried over throughout, but if we don’t require it on the first note, we create a useless plan of care because it has a missing mandatory component in terms of billing
Tyson Edwards
So this would only be foew new clients that do not have a Dx yet?

Tyson Edwards: I think you're going to see variability on whether people want a diagnosis to carry over throughout, or select it each time. I usually have a consistent diagnosis from visit to visit just based on the nature of my work/billing, but someone in e.g. primary care is going to potentially move through multiple different diagnoses throughout visits.
