Current Medication List

For prescribers using IntakeQ, it is a challenge to keep a list of patients' current medications, and to reconcile it every appointment. I imagine most users do what I do, which is have the med list as a pinned question within your note. It would be SO great if there were an option for a medication list to exist as something more than a pinned question, so it could be updated in real time, in between appointments, without having to create and lock a note. A truly accurate medication record would require more than the current template question options offer.
Because my ability to articulate what more is needed is limited at best--here is a link to a best practice guide to medication lists in EHR.

I am currently using the "medications" feature, but it would be great if you could add/edit the list from the note. Right now you can only say if they are still taking something already on the list. Which means you then have to go out of the note to add medications. (Which is confusing itself considering there are several options to see the list, but only some of them allow you to add medications that other physicians are prescribing). My suggestion would be to be able to view and select medications you wish to add from the patient's downloaded pharmacy history in addition to an option to manually add/delete medications all within the note.

I'm wondering if this would encompass what I came here to request. The current template "Medications" Question Type isn't functional because it doesn't list only current medications. If I auto send it to clients for them to verify that their current meds are correct it sends them a jumbled mess of old medications with current ones mixed in there and a separate medication for each time I sent a refill and sometimes doesn't even having their current medications on the list.

Same problem for using it within the note, it pulls in a mess.

Is there an update about this feature for non prescribing providers?

I can update the med list without unlocking a note because we added the list to our overview page and it pulls into every note. Although, I do not have it set up to pull in info from erx yet. But anyone can update the med list, for example my RN calls in a RX on my behalf, while I’m out, she can add it to the list.

Agreed.

I don't have the question type for medications or pharmacy. Also, the current DX from the note doesn't seem to talk to the DX for the script...

If you are using our ePrescribe, you have a "Medications" question type now. This will pull in the medication list from the Prescriptions tab to an intake or a visit note and will allow a box to be checked if they are still taking it. You can then update the med list accordingly.
Let me know if this provides some value. We are also working on the pharmacy.

Tyson Edwards: how do we add it to the progress note we are already using so that we dont mess up the note we are using.

Tyson Edwards: I don't see the option for Medications nor Pharmacy. I tried logging out and back in to refresh it. Please advise. Thanks!

Tyson Edwards: not showing up for me as well

Tyson Edwards: Hello Tyson, I am a prescriber and the medication question type does not show up for me. I cannot find any way to import the prescription information into my notes which is frustrating.
Tyson Edwards
Sorry, There is a setting you need to enable in the ePrescribe Settings page. You'd need to enable this for them to show.

Tyson Edwards: has this changed since you added it? I don't have this option in my scriptsure settings anywhere

Tyson Edwards: I don't see this option (as of 1/17/24). Has it relocated?

Tyson Edwards I don't see this option, how do I select this?

And for non prescribers we would like it so we could easily update our client meds and have easier access to finding their current medications.

Laurie Schlosser: I would love this too! I am a non-prescriber and I would love to easily update meds.

This is badly needed! Very hard to keep meds organized with the current format. We should be able to prescibe a med without multiple duplicates and have an organized list that is easy to access. thank you

It would be extremely helpful for non-prescribers to have a medication tab in the client profile and be able to pull a client's medication history from pharmacies (client's often don't know or aren't forthcoming about their medications). When I was with DrChrono, they set me up with the ability to pull a client's electronic medication history in a "view-only" manner; I just had no option to prescribe as I am not a physician.
