Add Insurance vs Self-Pay Filter when Searching for "Claims not Created" under Lists>Appointments>Claims

I would like to submit a feature request to add a simple filter that would allow us to search by just insurance clients vs self-pay clients (based on what they are listed as on their face-sheet under "billing type", when searching for "claims not created" under lists>claims>appointments.
right now, when doing this, it results in both insurance clients and self-pay clients, with no way to differentiate between them on the page. Obviously the self-pay clients do not have any claims submitted since they are self-pay, but unless me or my biller memorize (or spend a ton of time going back and forth looking up their face-sheets in a separate tab) whether every single client in our practice (1000+) is self-pay or insurance, then there's just no way to do this effectively.
Also - I imagine if we created different "services" for self-pay clients that we could then search by each service type, but this would be an administrative nightmare, as we would now have to add an additional 12 types of self-pay services, and we already have like 25 different services. And then whenever the admins book appointments they would then have to take a lot of extra time to check whether the client is self-pay or insurance based.
And even if we did do this, then when searching this, we would have to search and filter by each insurance service one by one, which would also take a ton of time - so this isn't really practical either.
Thank you in advance and I think this would be really beneficial for PracticeQQ

I'm in agreement with Ryne I think. Is there any reason why you would want to see self-pay clients on Lists > Claims > Appts?

One additional consideration is that some clients receive certain services that are billed to insurance (ie a physical therapy visit), and other services that cannot be billed to insurance (ie a massage therapy session). Rather than a filter that bases it on a client's billing setting, can we have one that is based on service type? There is already a setting to "prevent insurance billing" at the service level.

There is a workaround for this. If you run the Lists > Claims > Appointment report, you have to make sure to select Payment = “Has pending client amount”. This will filter out any self-pay clients who have already been invoiced. And if they haven't been invoiced, then we like having them show up in this report so we can invoice them.
That said, we have to note the Billing Type for all clients as either Insurance, Self Pay or Unknown - so the fact that this isn't a filter option in any of the current reports is confusing to me. It would be nice to have this as a filter option in several of the reports.

Hi Sean. I'm not sure if I'm reading your post correctly, but have you tried selecting the "Create Claims" option under List-> Claims? It will show you appointments that are eligible for claims and you can filter by insured only. See my attached screen shots. Hope this helps. My problem is similar in that I'd like an additional filter in this "Eligible Claims" window- see my post below and upvote if it applies to you too.

Tyson Edwards: I posted about something similar to this in another request regarding claims. I emailed this to you guys: The current requirement for my biller to submit a claim is that the note is locked by the clinician. It has to have the correct CPT codes and be locked to indicate they’ve documented there work. That way, if they were to leave tomorrow, I would have the documentation to support being paid and not risk having to return it under audit. To help assist our biller, we’ve adding a process automation that assigns a task to the biller each time a note is locked. As you can imagine, this can be time consuming to run down each one, not to mention adding the price per unit and paring down the dx codes-as I discussed with your team.
Currently the list of Eligible Appointments can be generated with a filter for insured clients only, but it does me no good until the note is complete [locked], which requires manually checking each one to see if the note is locked and actually eligible to bill. If a filter option was added to this area detailing the note status (like under List->Notes->Locked) it would be a huge improvement.

Tyson Edwards: Do you think they would add a setting for units to calculate and populate based on the length of the appointment? this would be for claims purpose because now I have to unlock every note manually to update the units.

Yes. I do not even understand why clients marked as self-pay would show up in the claims...
