I would love this too.

It's been a year and I'm really hoping this can be implemented sooner than later. It's these types of things that make a big difference in gender-affirming care.

We don't bill internally so to ensure accuracy, need both names on pt's chart- would like an option for example for: John "Jane" Smith

You can set up preferred name as a custom field under Lists>Client>Profile Settings>+Add New Field, then add it as a mapped field in the demographic section of your intake. It will show up on the Overview tab in the client profile.

I keep their preferred name as their main name and have the claims override and additional profile fields for their billing name. I also use that to record 3 genders. The assigned at birth in a separate custom profile field and I used the gender field for their current gender and the new sex field for the billing gender.

You can use their preferred name in the profile and make it so the claims get sent with their legal name.

You can change their primary name to their preferred name and then just be sure to have their legal name in the “claim defaults” so that billing is filed with their legal name

Writing to add request to add the preferred name to the list of available "fields" (e.g., "Add Field" option wherever rich text is used, like email templates). Apologies if this was already covered by other comments.

I agree this is very important that this be added as an additional feature. I tried adding it in parentheses so that it would show when reading their chart but this cased issues with claims. Even when I took the parentheses and preferred name off of the claim it's self it still pulled the name on their face sheet with parentheses to the submitted claim and caused it to be rejected again.
