I've learned that if you can put the preferred name ( when you find out during appointment) as the patient first name in the overview of chart. Then while in patient's chart, go over to Claim Defaults and place the legal name/ name found on IDs there and when you do claims or like us using ePrescribe it will take the name you put in the Claims Default. I took screen shots from our Test account to show

Please provide an option for us to enter client's "preferred" name with settings to specify when/where the client's preferred name vs. legal name is the default name used (e.g., preferred name in appointment reminders, legal name on claims).

You can use their preferred name in their chart. To automatically add their legal name to claims you move to claims, claims default (white button next to blue +create claims) and then add their legal name. The legal name in the claims default will transfer to their claims as well as their prescriptions.

Christy Pokorny thank you for this info, Christy. I realize there are work arounds but my state's licensing laws dictate specific identifiers that need to be in each client's notes and record and the client's legal name is part of that. It'd be great if there were a simple way to capture both names in one place! My previous EHR did this in a way that made sense and where emails/SMS could be sent addressed to the client's preferred name.

Kimberly Koessel Can you add a legal name field to your intake/follow-up notes and have it automatically map in so it is located in that spot? We have a legal name field in our intake/follow-up notes that pulls automatically from our intake paperwork.

The have the option currently. You can enter their preferred name and then for in claim settings have it send their legal name. You can also add custom fields to profiles.

I would love this too.

Please provide a place for us to have a patient's preferred name in the chart, we work with a lot of transgender patients that do not go by their legal name. Thanks.

It's been a year and I'm really hoping this can be implemented sooner than later. It's these types of things that make a big difference in gender-affirming care.

We don't bill internally so to ensure accuracy, need both names on pt's chart- would like an option for example for: John "Jane" Smith
